One of the most frequently sought after subjects on the Internet is news. Many people in modern society get their information solely from the Internet. Even more interestingly the number of outlets for news has skyrocketed.
Historically, news outlets were local monopolies or nearly so. Across the nation various locals paid people to do essentially the same task for the locality. As the Internet has grown, the necessity for those locals has severely diminished and the section which is still required is dramatically smaller than it has been historically.
