Political News
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the rise of the Internet has been the political news sphere. Whereas political opinion was once delivered through a relatively few outlets, with the growth of the Internet, anyone who wishes to put their opinion out there can do so.
Many wonder if this has also contributed to the rise of fractured politics in countries like America. Historically people were forced to hear ideas at odds with their political views. Now people can subscribe to outlets that parrot their own beliefs and shape those that aren't fully formed. As such you wind up with an echo chamber in which people don't even have to defend their beliefs.
Whether it is to blame for dysfunction in political spheres, there is no question that a more biased, politicized media has arisen. All elements of the political spectrum have "shills" who put forth their agenda. Almost no political discourse even gives the hint of being "unbiased." Agendas are common and powerful and right out in the open.
